How to remove a boot off of the spark plug/coil wire?

I have removed and replaced my coil on my briggs and stratton lawnmower engine but the new coil didnt come with a boot for its coil wire and i cannot figure out how to remove the boot from the old one without dammaging it. any help or tips would be appreciated for getting the boot off and on. thanks EASY 10 points
