So Im really REALLY wanting them to do the ultrasound at my next appointment?

So Im really REALLY wanting them to do the ultrasound at my next appointment. I will be 17 weeks 4 days pregnant. I am SO curious to see if it's a boy or girl. My mother found out at 17 weeks that she was having a boy and my best friend just found out at 17 weeks she's having a girl. My doctor may only listen with the doppler and make me wait till 20+ weeks. Should I request an ultrasound?? They were supposed to get me in at 16 weeks but they were booked full which is why I will be 17 weeks 4 days, !!!
