My boyfriend's mad at me?

He got mad because he came home tired from work tonight and layed down on the couch I was expecting him to spend time with me a bit this evening and we got in an arguement I called him a worthless dropout because I was mad and It upset him and he left, it is his house and he does pay the bills to it.. he dropped out for family issues at 15 he's 18 now with no ged but he works.. I don't wanna lose him was just a bit upset he doesn construction work, btw.
