What is there to do in Japan?

I'm thinking of heading to Japan for about 2 weeks or so and wanted to know what's it all about. What is there to see, what's it like in the city, how much you think I will spend on food and room, etc..... Mainly I want to know if its possible to go to Mt. Fuji or something like that in march or april.
