Are these symptoms of a personality disorder ?

Bipolar or Manic Depressive Disorder is characterized by high and low moods that can repeat hourly, daily, weekly and more. The highs feel euphoric and the lows are very depressing. Lack of sleep sociated with this disorder can cause a person to become delusional or feel like their mind is straying from reality (like hearing voices or being unable to determine what is real or a dream). The disorder can also distort the way you think people perceive you ......including paranoia. Racing thoughts are ociated with the "highs" and self-criticism and feelings of worthlessness are ociated with the "lows." You do not appear to have a personality disorder but depending on your age and how long all of this has been going on, you may have a Bipolar Disorder....Their are different types like rapid cycling (sudden mood changes repeatedly during the day, for example). Make sure none of this is a result of substance abuse. Also, talk with your primary care physician. He/she can refer you to a therapist and/or a psychiatrist for a medication evaluation. Meanwhile, take extra care of yourself. Make time for sleep, talk about your feelings with people who are close to you, stop any drugs or alcohol if this is the case, and give yourself a hug for seeking help! Remember, you're not alone. Mood disorders are not unusual and very treatable. No more self-criticism, ok? No matter what, the world is a better place with you in it....Terri
