Changing leads after a barrel??? HELP PLEASE!?

ok i havent cantered or galloped my horse around the barrels yet, first i want to know how to change leads after a barrel so there are no accidents. so how? how do or should i ask him? or teach him of he doesnt know? thank you in advance!!
