Any mechanics out there?

my car keeps cutting out when i brake.... at traffic lights, roundabouts etc. It doesn't happen every day but when it does happen its really bad and scary... does any one know what the problem could be?!? the mechanic i go to cant find anything wrong and it has been for diagnostics etc. any ideas?
